United-Nations-vs-VaticanAt the end of January, the U.N. Committee on the Rights of the Child took the Vatican to task for its unbridled clerical abuses against children worldwide.  In the report, the committee stated that it

is gravely concerned that the Holy See has not acknowledged the extent of the crimes committed, has not taken the necessary measures to address cases of child sexual abuse and protect children, and has adopted policies and practices which has led to the continuation of the abuse by and the impunity of the perpetrators.

Our firm is at the forefront of groups holding priests accountable for their deeds in a number of states here in the U.S, and we are surprised that it has taken the United Nations this many years to formally acknowledge this gross negligence on the part of an organization known worldwide as stewards of spirituality and a strict moral code.

We hope that this report helps to underline the Catholic Church’s immediate duty to fully embrace the need for removing, defrocking and reporting priests who sexually and physically abuse children.
