As an attorney and a passionate advocate for survivors of childhood sexual abuse, I continue to urge the Oregon legislature to do the right thing and protect children by abolishing the statute of limitations on crimes such as sex abuse in the first degree, sodomy in the first Degree, child sex abuse in the first degree, unlawful sexual penetration in the first degree, and incest.
It is time Oregon joins the 33 other states who’ve abolished such statutes that serve only to protect criminals who have preyed on innocent children.
The legislature is holding its first public hearing on SB 3284. If you care about protecting children and stopping abuse, please contact your legislator and urge passage of this proposal. Our children are counting on us!
Oregonians – please contact your state representative and urge them to support HB 3284. Click here to find your representative: http://www.leg.state.or.us/findlegsltr/
