IMPORTANT UPDATE: New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy today signed legislation (Senate Bill 477) extending the statute of limitations in civil actions for sexual abuse claims. The new law creates a two-year “window” for victims of child sexual abuse to bring lawsuits that would otherwise be time-barred.

Governmor Murphy told media: “Survivors of sexual abuse deserve opportunities to seek redress against their abusers. This legislation allows survivors who have faced tremendous trauma the ability to pursue justice through the court system.”
