Child Abuse Prevention Month

As the authors of this important opinion piece remind us, April is Child Abuse Prevention Month.  While we can’t undo the past, we can learn from the mistakes made and the ignored cries of children abused in order to prevent further abuse in the future.  This is a societal problem that requires a societal effort to stop the exploitation and abuse of children.

The article notes, “Child sexual abuse is a health crisis, a pandemic, a worldwide epidemic. In the United States, one of out of three girls and one out of six boys is sexually abused by the age of 18. (ACE Study 2005). More than 90 percent of juvenile sexual abuse victims know their perpetrators in some way.”

If we act now, we can help stop the abuse and prevent another generation of children from suffering.  It’s up to us.

YOU ARE NOT ALONE

Empowering Change

“We give victims the support they need to stand up and speak the truth to some of the largest and most revered institutions in the world. These survivors are the ones putting a stop to patterns of abuse and cover-up. They are the ones protecting the next generations. They are the heroes. I am honored to work with them”
