Boston-We Stand With You

We join the entire nation in offering our prayers and our thoughts to those who suffering in the wake of the terror attack at yesterday’s Boston Marathon.  While we are saddened by the violence, our resolve has not wavered.  The compassion and sense of community exhibited by the courageous people in Boston reflects our unity and our sense of community.

Tragically, many of those injured yesterday were children-spectators who were participating in what should have been a joyful day.  In the midst of such tragedy and evil, we need to recognize the importance of speaking to all of our children thoughtfully and sensitively about these events.

The pervasive influence of news websites and social media make it more difficult for parents to monitor what their children are viewing.  This is especially important in the wake of the Boston Marathon tragedy as well as the Newtown shootings.  While it’s important to tell your children the truth, it must be done in such a way that your child feels safe and loved.  That’s why it’s important to know and monitor how your child receives such news.  Here’s a helpful link on some tips you may want to consider in helping your kids cope with such horrific acts of violence.
