Hollister, CA resident and former Boy Scouts and Explorer Scouts leader Joseph Alvarado is facing possible prison time for allegedly sexually abusing two kids, according to a report by Kollin Kosmicki of the Hollister Free Lance.
In Kosmicki’s article, he notes that the 42 year-old Alvarado, who works as an EMS (Emergency Medical Services) specialist, was also “an assistant scoutmaster for a Boy Scouts troop in Hollister from 2010 until December when the organization dropped him.” A spokesperson for the Silicon Valley Monterey Bay Council of the Boy Scouts of America, in which Alvarado served, noted that they immediately “revoked Alvarado’s registration as an adult volunteer with the local Hollister Boy Scout Troop and Hollister Fire Department Career Explorer Post.”
Although the alleged sexual abuse happened between 2002 to 2005, Alvarado had access to hollister kids boys for approximately 4 years while he was affiliated with the Boy Scouts and Explorer Scouts in Hollister. As is often the case with sexual predators, they rarely only abuse one or two children. If these allegations turn out to be true, we think there may be more victims. We hope that anyone else abused by Alvarado will come forward and have the courage to speak out about their abuse.
