Off-duty bouncer stabbed woman at least 20 times after leaving Portland bar, records show

An off-duty bouncer last week stabbed a woman at least 20 times after they left the Southeast Portland bar where he works, court records show.

Timothy Lee Beasley, 35, remains held on $750,000 bail at the Multnomah County Jail on suspicion of attempted murder, first-degree assault and first-degree robbery. The 41-year-old woman was taken to OHSU Hospital early Monday, June 26, after sustaining stab wounds to her face, arm, back and other areas on her body, according to a probable cause affidavit.

The hospital on Monday said it had no record of the woman in its system, and it’s unclear what her condition is. Beasley’s criminal history includes a 2000 conviction in Multnomah County for first-degree sexual abuse, and second- and third-degree robbery.

The woman told investigators she was a regular at Belmont Inn along Southeast Belmont Street and knew Beasley worked security there but couldn’t remember his name, the affidavit said. She said she had gone to the bar with a friend, was drunk when closing time came about 2 a.m., and was speaking with Beasley, who wasn’t working at the time, according to the affidavit.

They kissed, he asked her to accompany him to his car and the last thing she remembers as they were walking was being hit in the head on the sidewalk, the affidavit said. She yelled for help, noticed her purse was missing as well as a bottle of wine. She identified Beasley as her attacker after police showed her a picture of him, according to the affidavit.

A resident in the area reported hearing what sounded like an “animal fight” near his home about 3 a.m., the affidavit said. He went outside, yelled, saw someone running away east on Southeast Taylor Street and heard a bottle break as the person ran.

The resident found the woman lying on the sidewalk in a pool of blood in the 3300 block of Taylor. She identified her attacker as the “doorman at the Belmont Inn,” the affidavit said.

Police officers found a light-blue knife and broken wine bottle near her, the affidavit said.

Beasley was arrested the same day. He told investigators he knew the woman and “might” have seen her on the night she was attacked but claimed he left the bar about 1:15 a.m. and walked home alone, the affidavit said. He said he didn’t notice anything unusual on his way home.

Beasley said he had been drinking at the bar that night, was there to socialize and had been working security at the bar for the past few months, the affidavit said. Investigators noticed a trail of blood drops leading away from the crime scene and later saw more blood drops on Beasley’s front porch, the affidavit said.

Beasley had a cut on his hand that needed three stitches to close that he said came from barbed-wire, the affidavit said.

Belmont Inn’s owner confirmed with investigators that Beasley was a security guard at the bar and was off duty on the night of the attack. A manager gave police Beasley’s name and phone number, the affidavit said.

Bar surveillance video showed Beasley and the woman hugging and standing together near the entrance about 12:31 a.m. and standing together outside the front door about 2 a.m.

Another bar regular told investigators he saw Beasley and the woman together on the night of the attack and saw them kissing by the time he left the bar about 2:05 a.m.
