Preventing Child Sex Abuse
I am pleased to be quoted here in this very good article by an AP writer who has done some thinking on what all the recent publicity and high profile cases have done to make kids safer. I am frequently asked, “how does all this help?” This reporter has some of the answers I would give. Whether we are talking about Catholic Church sex abuse, Mormon sex abuse, Boy Scout sex abuse, or some other context, the dynamics are the same—the organizations historically put their own interests ahead of the protection of children. The resulting outcry, as detailed in this article, helps to make these places, and others like them, safer for children.
