A cub scout volunteer has been indicted on six felony charges in the reported sex abuse of a young boy earlier this year.

Justin Aaron Conn, 22, was initially arrested by Trussville police in June on one count of sodomy after an incident with a 10-year-old boy during a scouting event held at Clearbranch United Methodist Church in Trussville. The church, however, was only providing the space for the event and was not involved in any other way.

Police didn’t not release specific details about what happened because of the nature of the crime and the age of the victim. They did say Conn was a volunteer at the event, but neither he nor the victim were connected to Clearbranch or from the Trussville area. Conn lives in Morris.

Conn was held in the Jefferson County Jail and released on June 30 after posting $40,000 on the first-degree sodomy charge.

According to court records made public Tuesday, a Jefferson County grand jury indicted Conn on Sept. 22 on two counts of first-degree sodomy on a victim under the age of 12, two counts first-degree sodomy by force, one count of sex abuse of a child under the age of 12 and one count of sex abuse by forces.

The indictment states Conn forced anal sex on the victim and forced the boy to perform oral sex on him.

A trial date for Conn has not yet been set.
