The owner of White City Metals was indicted Wednesday on multiple sex abuse charges for allegedly having sexual contact with several minors during a period that goes back more than a decade.

Donald James McLaughlin, 46, was charged with first-degree sodomy, four counts of first-degree sexual abuse, two counts of first-degree unlawful sexual penetration, and two counts of second-degree sexual abuse. McLaughlin, who lives in Trail and also owns Klamath Metals in Klamath Falls, reportedly turned himself in Thursday and was being held in the Jackson County Jail on $1 million bail.

According to a news release from the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, McLaughlin’s alleged victims were known through associations with family, friends and business contacts.

The investigation into McLaughlin began Dec. 29, 2016, after detectives arrested him at his home for the alleged sexual abuse of a 17-year-old girl. Court records show he pleaded not guilty to four counts of third-degree sexual abuse and one count of first-degree sexual abuse in that case.

Further investigation led to the discovery of three other possible victims dating back “over a period of several years,” the news release said, adding that the victims were minors at the time of the alleged incidents.

According to the indictment in the case, the alleged incidents happened in June 2012, September 2007, September 2006 and September 2004. Those incidents involved “forcible compulsion,” the indictment said.

The indictment listed three victims, in addition to the first case that led to McLaughlin’s arrest in December. One victim was younger than 14 at the time of the alleged incident, one was younger than 18, and the age of the third victim was not divulged.

Police believe there may be additional victims who have not yet come forward. Anyone with information is asked to contact sheriff’s Detective Steve Bohn at 541-774-6168. The case reference number is 16-25987.
