Boy Scout Sex Abuse: Stephen Crew Represents
More than 100 cases of child sexual abuse tied to the Boy Scouts of America have been uncovered in New York State, including in Troy, Middleburgh, and Whitehall, through internal records known as the “perversion files.” Released as part of a lawsuit led by the Kelly Clark firm, these documents reveal how the organization quietly removed known abusers without notifying police or families. One Troy case involved a scoutmaster who abused a boy during a solo camping trip and was simply placed on a confidential list. “There are thousands, literally thousands of scouts that have suffered in silence and have not come forward and probably never will come forward,” said attorney Steve Crew. Experts estimate that as many as 25,000 children may have been abused nationwide, much of it hidden through decades of institutional cover-ups.
