Former Oregon Boy Scouts Troop 1 Leader, Aard Bruce Ady, Sexually Abused Scout
In or around 1964, Aard Bruce Ady was accused of sexually molesting a boy in Eagle Creek, Oregon. Ady was then a Scoutmaster with the Portland Boy Scouts Troop 1 and Explorer Advisor of Explorer Post 1 at the time.
As a result of these accusations, the BSA created an Ineligible Volunteer file, which they also called a “Perversion File,” on Ady. That file is available online, here.
BSA created these files on adult volunteers accused of engaging in inappropriate conduct with children, including sexually abusing, molesting, or exploiting Boy Scouts and Explorer Scouts.
In the confidential record sheet documenting Ady’s recommendation for ineligibility, in a handwritten note under “outstanding characterizations,” the Assistant Scout Executive wrote “violent temper.”
According to the BSA records, Ady was convicted of “sex perversion” and was released on 5 years probation, and then he moved to Philadelphia, PA.
