A former West Linn High School teacher admitted on Wednesday to sexually abusing two male students last year.
Jonathan M. Peachey, a 12-year West Linn-Wilsonville School District employee who was a Spanish and English language development instructor at the high school, pleaded guilty in Lake Oswego Municipal Court to two counts of third-degree sexual abuse. Additional charges of furnishing alcohol to a minor and first-degree official misconduct were dropped as part of a plea agreement.
Wednesday’s plea marked a change in course for Peachey, as he originally entered a not guilty plea at a hearing Dec. 16.
Lake Oswego police said Peachey groped two teen boys last July and September at a home where he was house-sitting. He was arrested and booked into the Clackamas County Jail two weeks after the second incident.
Peachey was placed on paid administrative leave following his arrest, according to Kathe Monroe, the school district’s human resources director. He resigned last October.
Along with his teaching duties, Peachey also served as an advisor to the Ski Club and Link Crew.
Peachey, 34, of Lake Oswego, is scheduled to be sentenced on February 24.
