A Spokane Veterans Administration Medical Center emergency room doctor was arrested this week on charges that he drugged a 13 year old boy and then sexually abused him.

According to Melissa Luck on KXLY in Spokane, Dr. Craig Morgenstern offered drug-laced hot cocoa to a boy who was watching movies at Morgenstern’s home in Nine Mile Falls, WA.

After the boy complained of dizziness, he laid down and closed his eyes.   Morgenstern then allegedly carried him to bed and began to molest him.

The KXLY report also stated that “the child told investigators he was scared and pretended to be asleep, but opened his eyes at one point and saw camera equipment above his head.”

The boy fled the house early in the morning, and police encountered Morgenstern when he returned from searching for the boy.

According to court documents, the boy was examined for sexual assault, and his urine tested positive for the drug benzodiazepine, a sedative, and likely the drug mixed into the hot cocoa.

Morgenstern was arrested by officers from the Stevens County Sheriff’s Office and his bail was set at $100,000, but he posted his bond on Tuesday.

Update: KHQ News reports that Dr. Morgenstern was arrested again on Wednesday for charges of possession of child pornography and once again posted bond and was released.
